One of the most delightful aspects of running our inn is the chance to meet and get to show the work of emerging and established artists in the Milwaukee area.  Our dining room is currently full of the still life flower and butterfly paintings of Miss Karina Polasky.  Here is a little bit that she has to say about this exhibit and herself.

“In a departure from my usual focus and exploration of the human figure in my work, I have turned to self-reflection on memories through still life pieces. The varieties of flora and wildlife depicted here are directly drawn from the gardens of my childhood, the seeds I selected for my flower-bed, and the delicate memories associated with them.
I was born in Minneapolis, MN and spent most of my life growing up in the Midwest, and some time living in the South East. My early education was ever-changing, however I was primarily home-schooled for most of my childhood. With an artist and educator for a mother, I became exposed to the history and expression of artistic practices heavily at a very young age. I have been surrounded in countless art forms my entire life, which has fed my practice of employing a diversity of mediums, and experimentation with materials, on top of primarily being a painter.
Currently I am based out of Milwaukee, WI. I work not only as a professional visual artist, but as a figure model, studio assistant, and as a gallery docent. I am presently studying to earn my BFA in Art Therapy at Alverno College.”
Karina’s work will be on display for the rest of January.  Stop by and see how lovely it is for yourself!  Visitors in addition to regular overnight guests are always welcome at The Muse.
